Autumn Curriculum Overview 2025
🌼 Autumn Term Learning Opportunities
Welcome to the new school year! This half-term, our focus is on helping children settle into their learning environment with confidence, independence, and joy. Our main area of development is Personal, Social and Emotional Development, supported by engaging themes and a nurturing approach.
🧠Personal, Social and Emotional Development
We understand that starting a new term can be a big step for young children. Our team is dedicated to creating a calm, structured, and welcoming environment where children feel safe and supported.
- Children will learn how to build friendships and get along with others.
- Activities will encourage playing alone, alongside, and with peers.
- Clear routines and boundaries will help children feel secure and understand expectations.
- The environment is designed to promote independent learning, allowing children to make informed choices and decisions.
👕 Encouraging Independence
We support children in learning how to care for their own needs. You can help at home by encouraging your child to:
- Dress and undress themselves
- Make simple choices
- Take responsibility for small tasks
These everyday skills build confidence and self-esteem.
📚 This Half Term’s Themes
We’ll be exploring three exciting and age-appropriate topics:
-
I am Special!
Celebrating each child’s uniqueness and helping them develop a strong sense of self. -
Horrid Germs and Super Sneezes
Learning about hygiene, health, and how to keep ourselves and others safe. -
Harvest
Discovering the natural world, food, and the importance of community and sharing.
💬 Communication and Language
Communication is a key focus throughout Nursery. We provide a language-rich environment where children are encouraged to express themselves and develop strong foundations for future learning.
Our team will:
- Narrate and model language
- Ask open-ended questions
