EYFS Intent, Implementation and Impact Statement
Intent
In our Nursery and Reception classes, we aim to give every child the best possible start in life. We provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes communication, independence, resilience, collaboration, and a lifelong love of learning.
Our approach supports children in achieving key developmental milestones through positive learning attitudes and the development of their Characteristics of Effective Learning. Every child is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential, laying strong foundations for future success.
We are committed to inclusive practice, ensuring that all children—regardless of background, ability, or need—are welcomed, supported, and enabled to thrive. Implementation
Our carefully planned curriculum offers breadth and depth through engaging, play-based opportunities. Children experience a balance of adult-led, guided, and child-initiated activities in enabling environments both indoors and outdoors.
These experiences spark awe and wonder, nurture curiosity, and build understanding of the community and wider world, enriching their cultural capital.
We differentiate provision to meet individual needs and ensure accessibility and equity for all learners, including those with SEND, EAL, or other additional needs. Impact
In the Early Years, we believe every child can thrive in a nurturing, stimulating environment where learning is exciting and meaningful. They develop resilience, resourcefulness, and a love of learning—skills they can apply confidently in a range of situations.
Children make excellent progress from their individual starting points and achieve a Good Level of Development by the end of Reception. They leave our Early Years setting as happy, confident, and independent learners, fully prepared for Key Stage 1.
We use ongoing assessment to personalise learning, supported by regular moderation, annual reports, and termly parent consultations. Summative assessments guide next steps and are captured through learning journals, books, and pupil voice.
We pride ourselves on an inclusive environment that fosters belonging, curiosity, and cultural awareness. This helps children develop a broad and balanced understanding of the world and their place within it.
