Welford Nursery Class
Welcome to Welford Nursery
A nurturing start to a lifelong love of learning
Welford Nursery is a long-established, Governor-led Nursery Class located within the grounds of Welford-on-Avon Primary School, where we’ve proudly supported early years education for over 50 years. Our purpose-built nursery classroom, opened in November 2019, offers a bright, stimulating environment overlooking the school playing field—perfectly designed to inspire young minds.
Although our nursery is in its own dedicated space, we remain very much part of the wider school community, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition into primary education.
What We Offer
- A highly creative and engaging indoor/outdoor learning environment
- Experienced and caring staff, led by Mrs M Sims (Qualified Teacher), under the supervision of Headteacher Mrs Julie Leeman
- Up to 30 hours of free childcare for eligible three-year-olds, with additional sessions available to purchase
- Wraparound care options to support busy families (see main school website for details)
Our Approach
At Welford Nursery, we build on the foundations you’ve started at home, helping your child grow into a confident, curious learner. Our curriculum is shaped by the seven areas of learning and development defined in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a strong focus on the three Prime Areas:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
These are complemented by four Specific Areas:
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
We believe that well-planned play is central to learning. Children explore, experiment, reflect, and grow through meaningful interactions with adults and peers, both indoors and outdoors. Our flexible learning spaces encourage independence, creativity, and critical thinking.
Come and Visit Us
We warmly invite you and your child to visit Welford Nursery and experience our inspirational early years provision first-hand. We look forward to welcoming you on the next step of your child’s exciting learning journey.
