Head Teachers Welcome
Welford on Avon Primary is high achieving, larger than average rural primary and nursery school located in the village of Welford on Avon in Warwickshire. The school serves the local community but also draws pupils from surrounding villages.
Our intention is to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils, preparing them at school for their future life responsibilities and experiences. We encourage every pupil to discover and develop their own skills and abilities, as well as their interests, talents and their own distinctive personalities so they can each achieve their full potential.
Our rich educational environment promotes positive attitudes and an ethos where each child is valued and offered every opportunity to succeed. We see the potential in all children, with emotional wellbeing central to all we achieve. Our school is a happy and vibrant community in which our highly qualified staff have high expectations for the children and strive to bring learning alive in order to nurture and inspire success.
We aspire to build confidence across the entire school community through a culture of kindness, mutual respect and consideration. By providing for their enrichment, we believe our pupils will profit from their lives as children. At the same time, we are laying the foundations for future challenges. We value the contribution of every child and believe that our broad and balanced curriculum offers all pupils the opportunity to develop a thirst for learning, acquire new skills and discover their individual and unique talents.
Recently, we opened a Resource Provision on our school site to meet the needs of children with Communication and Interaction difficulties.
We lead the Arden Forest School Direct Teacher Training Programme in partnership with The University of Worcester using our experience and expertise to train the next generation of teachers.
We run a before and after school club, and have an active Friends of Welford who tirelessly raise funds for the school.
We offer a wide range of after school clubs including Netball, Athletics, Rugby, Orchestra, Science, Art and Choir.
We have very strong links with the local community and stay connected with the village through various organisations.
Please browse our website to get a flavour of our enriched curriculum, the enjoyment and excellence we offer our children and to find out more about the school.

Mrs JR Leeman
We aim to provide a secure, caring environment that will enable children to develop healthy attitudes and become positive, happy and confident members of the community. All contributions are valued and respected. We aim for children to have empathy with and show tolerance towards others. We are particularly keen to develop healthy, fit children who feel safe in the environment of our school. We aim to ensure children enjoy and achieve within the structure we offer. Children are encouraged to make a positive contribution to the community close to school and also to the Global community we all belong to.
Positive behaviour is encouraged in all areas of school activity in an atmosphere of mutual respect, consideration and courtesy.
All children will be encouraged to develop their own self-discipline and take responsibility for their actions. Children agree their own classroom rules and contribute to the rules of the school. This forms the basis of our behaviour policy.
Bullying is not tolerated and any reported incidents are taken very seriously indeed. The school uses the ‘no blame’ approach to bullying which has been very successful. Work within our Social, Emotional Aspects of Learning work focuses on Bullying, enabling the children to fully understand what bullying is and what to do about it.
