Nursery Admission Policy
We admit children in the Autumn Term after their third birthday.
There are places for 40 children (20 in the morning and 20 in the afternoon).
Children are admitted for half a day (morning or afternoon) for five sessions a week. We will do all we can to meet your preference but cannot guarantee to do so. In addition, to the 15 free hour entitlement, if there are spare places it is possible to purchase additional sessions. We are also able to provide lunchtime cover. The cost is seperate to the payment for the school lunch. It is also possible to bring sandwiches. The availability of top-up places may vary from year to year as children entitled to the 15 hours will have priority.
Applications should be made to the School on the appropriate form, after your child’s second birthday and before February.
Your application will be considered using the criteria below. We will tell you whether a place can be offered by the beginning of March.
If your child comes to our nursery unit, he or she does not have to move on to Welford School. Equally, attendance at the nursery unit unfortunately does not guarantee that he or she will be offered a place in the reception class at Welford School.
There are often more applications than places. We offer places as follows:
- First priority will be given to children living in the priority area and have a sibling at our school (Welford on Avon, Weston on Avon, Milcote, Long Marston, Dorsington and parts of Temple Grafton.)
- Second priority will be given to children who live in our priority area.
- Third priority will be given to children who live outside our priority area but have a sibling in our school.
- Any other applicants living within the administrative county closest to the school.
A number of places are reserved for children who need a place as a special priority; this could be full time if the criterion is met. Up to three places will be offered to children who are referred by relevant support agencies and who would not otherwise qualify for a place.
